Other tools check your geometry. PointWise improves it and gives you back a better part.
The teams that adopt this first will move faster. That gap is widening.
input: your_3d_model → output: optimised_geometry
Every 3D model starts the same way: an engineer drawing rectangles, cylinders, and boxes in CAD. It is the language human designers speak.
But the geometry that actually performs best in manufacturing is organic. Spline-based. Shaped by physics, not by what is easy to draw. Compensating for shrinkage, flow, and thermal deformation requires modifying every single point in a 3D model simultaneously, across multiple physical domains at once. No engineer can do this by hand. No single-domain tool computes it fully.
PointWise does.
Designed by the engineer.
Straight lines, right angles.
Mould or toolpath optimised.
Every point pre-compensated.
Part emerges exactly as designed.
Near-zero tolerance variation.
PointWise computes the ideal displacement for every surface point simultaneously,
across all relevant physical domains.
The most significant part of product design is the part only engineers can do: the mechanical concept. The spatial reasoning. The functional logic. The clever assembly that makes the product work in the first place. Engineers and product people are world champions at this. They go from a blank page to the first fundamental design thoughts, basic geometry, and system layout with an intuition and experience that no AI can replicate. That starting guess is extraordinarily valuable.
That rough CAD, with its right-angle fillets, approximate radii, and placeholder geometry, is not a problem. It is the perfect input. It encodes everything the engineer knows about the product.
The challenge is what comes next. In practice, engineers and technical teams spend the majority of their time not on concepts, but on DFM corrections, tolerance dimensioning, manufacturing fixes, and iteration cycles. Round after round of adjustments that move the part further from ideal, not closer. This is not a skill problem. It is a compute problem. And it is exactly what PointWise automates, in hours.
PointWise does not replace the engineer. It frees them to do the one thing only they can: create the next concept.
PointWise replaces weeks of manual DFM iteration with automated physics compute, across every point on the surface.
Drop in your STL or STEP file. PointWise ingests the geometry and prepares it for physics analysis.
The PointWise Geometry Engine computes DFM constraints and compensation vectors simultaneously across the entire surface.
You receive a corrected, manufacture-ready model: organic curves, every point computed. Fewer iterations. More designs through production.
PointWise adapts to your production process, whether you are optimising a mould or guiding a mill. The principle is the same: every point on the surface gets the right coordinates from computer numerical design optimisation.
PointWise modifies both the part geometry and the metal mould, at every single point. In non-functional areas (draft angles, internal wall profiles, non-visible surfaces) the part itself is adjusted to improve manufacturability. The mould is then pre-compensated for shrinkage, warpage, and flow-induced deformation before a single shot is made. The mould looks non-trivial. That is intentional. The plastic part that emerges looks exactly as the engineer designed: straight, accurate, near-zero tolerance variation. Specific capabilities include wear-optimised 3D variable draft angles, 3D variable shrinkage compensation, and flow-induced warpage correction at every surface point simultaneously.
For precision machined components, PointWise optimises the part itself for stress, strain, stiffness, material utilisation, function, and tolerances, and outputs an STL that feeds directly into your CAM software. The CNC mill already moves point by point and can produce spline-based surfaces. Most do not, because the CAD was drawn in straight lines. PointWise bridges both gaps: a better part geometry, and a toolpath optimised to produce it exactly. This includes acceleration-optimised roundings and fillets across all 6 degrees of freedom (x, y, z, Rx, Ry, Rz) and load-compensated machining computed per surface point.
Traditional tools run one analysis at a time. PointWise finds the optimum across all disciplines simultaneously. What is gained in structural strength should not come at the cost of assembly. What is optimised for shrinkage should not compromise stiffness. The geometry that emerges is the best answer across everything at once.
Tools like CoLab and DFMpro review your geometry and flag what is wrong. Generative design creates new shapes from scratch. PointWise is the only tool that takes your existing geometry and improves it, manufacture-ready, without a redesign.

PointWise is built by Component Group, a Copenhagen-based consortium consisting of Component 2.0, a product and engineering team, and Component AI, a team with leading specialists in AI for engineering. Over more than two decades, the team has trained and educated more than 4,000 engineers. We have seen first-hand how exceptional they are at creating ideas, concepts, and starting geometries. And how they spend the majority of their time on DFM corrections, tolerance dimensioning, and manufacturing iteration. That is what PointWise automates, in hours.
The geometry engine is build on state-of-the-art shape analysis methods that allows to parametrize and quantify smooth geometry transformations from Riemannian metrics on spaces of non-linear transformations. Coupled with language-to-geometry generators and end-to-end differentiable numerical schemes, it allows to optimize all points for any criteria in scaleable geometry generation pipelines. Years of engineers, experts, and researchers analysing, testing, and developing methods in algorithmic mechanics and algorithmic mathematics enters in the optimization process, allowing a body of knowledge previously locked in human expertise to be operational algorithmically. With AI, we can flip the paradigm: stop analysing what already exists, and start designing what should exist.
Geometry in code supercharges computation. CNC already machines point by point. AI unlocks the geometry. PointWise brings all three together and applies them to every point on every surface. This is Computer Numerical Design: the design equivalent of what CNC did for manufacturing. A complete break from manually drawn lines, towards physics-driven geometry computed from the ground up.
PointWise works at whatever depth your team needs, from optimising individual parts today to running a fully integrated geometry pipeline at scale.
Bring a 3D model. Get back optimised, manufacture-ready geometry, compensated for shrinkage, warpage, and DFM constraints. Works for individual parts, DFM verification, and small batches. The fastest way to start.
For teams running high volumes or complex product families. PointWise is set up as a complete design pipeline: operationalizing your engineering knowledge, running at unlimited scale, and integrating directly with your own AI agents via a Python-native interface. Configurable depth: from DFM-only to full multi-discipline optimisation across every part you produce. Custom setup, delivered by Component AI.
The speed from product concept to finished tooling and running production is unprecedented. It opens up entirely new ways of working — and gives us the confidence to scale in ways we simply couldn't before.
